Port organisation
The Port of Stuttgart is a joint-venture company of the regional capital city of Stuttgart and has the legal status of a limited company. The port operates on the so-called "Heilbronner System". This means, that
- the port development area
- the port basins
- the port rail facilities
The HSG manages the port development area, is responsible for the maintenance and transportation safety of the port facilities and regulates their use. The port development area is leased to private companies on an undeveloped basis. The erection and operation of all necessary plant and facilities (cranes, warehouses, silos, tanks, administrative buildings, etc.) fall within the responsibility of the individual leaseholder.
